Introduction
The Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) has recorded a significant leadership transition with the official handover to a new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer. This development underscores NAIC’s commitment to continuity, institutional stability, and the sustained delivery of its statutory mandate within Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
Leadership Transition at NAIC
On 3rd June 2025, the former Acting Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Florence Onwuanokwu, formally handed over the affairs of the Corporation to the newly appointed MD/CEO, Hon. Yazid Sheu Umar Danfulani.
This handover followed an earlier transition on 10th April 2025, when the immediate past substantive Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Folashade Joseph, completed her second term in office and officially transferred leadership to Mrs. Onwuanokwu in an acting capacity. Together, these sequential transitions ensured seamless management and operational continuity at NAIC.
A Commitment to Continuity and Growth
During his inaugural engagement, Hon. Danfulani reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive leadership and collaboration. He emphasized his intention to work closely with the entire NAIC workforce to chart a strategic path aimed at strengthening the Corporation and advancing its core mandate.
His remarks highlighted a focus on:
Institutional growth and reform
Enhanced service delivery to stakeholders
Strengthening NAIC’s role in agricultural risk management and insurance
Looking Ahead
The appointment of a new MD/CEO marks the beginning of a fresh chapter for NAIC—one defined by renewed leadership, collective responsibility, and a shared vision for progress. With a clear commitment to teamwork and mandate-driven governance, the Corporation is well-positioned to deepen its impact within Nigeria’s agricultural ecosystem.
Conclusion
As NAIC transitions into this new phase, the Corporation remains steadfast in its mission to provide effective agricultural insurance solutions that support farmers, agribusinesses, and national food security. Stakeholders can anticipate a period of strategic consolidation and purposeful advancement under the leadership of Hon. Yazid Sheu Umar Danfulani.
